Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been a photographer / filmmaker?

I first picked up a (digital) camera when I was about 14 years old during a family trip to Monticello in Virginia. I was hooked. From there, I learned the ins-and-outs of digital photography and Photoshop before trying my hand at film photography. It wouldn’t be until my late-20’s when I would consider myself a professional, making an income from my passion.

Do you need a shot list for my wedding day?

While it’s not necessary, it is immensely helpful during our formal photos to be able to call out names rather than just “Mom, Dad,” especially with blended families and dynamic family situations!

How many images will our wedding gallery contain?

While the length of coverage varies from 5 hours on, I never limit the amount of images I will capture in any of my weddings. I carry plenty of memory cards, the images are backed-up on multiple hard drives and then I carefully choose and select the final collection that you will receive. I remove duplicates, unflattering images and then deliver between 30-50 images for every hour of coverage. All of the photographs that you will receive are delivered in full resolution and have been fully edited, you have printing rights and these images are not watermarked. I am a big believer in quality over quantity and I will never put “filler” in your final gallery.

What is your payment policy?

I typically ask of a 50% first payment to secure any photoshoot, be it headshot, family session or wedding. This helps to ensure our session will take place and no other business can be booked. Any payments paid toward shoots are non-refundable, otherwise, this could result in a loss of business due to cancellations and turning down of other jobs. Your date is secured once a first payment has been made.

Can I order prints through you?

Each gallery is delivered ready-to-print however the difference in quality is HUGE when it comes to ordering through the professional lab(s) I use and trust. My computer and monitor are calibrated to achieve the highest quality + color reproduction so I would encourage and be glad to help with print orders!

will you travel to (insert state / country here) to shoot my wedding / elopement?

Absolutely! While there would be an added expense for travel, there are a few “bucket list” destinations in which I’d love to shoot. In other words, if you’re looking to get married / elope in one of these locations, message me and I’d be willing to forego these fees: Iceland, Italy, Greece or anywhere in the Pacific Northwest US.

How long after my shoot will I receive my photos or video?

While some parts of the year are busier than others, the expected timeline is as follows:

Headshot, family, engagement sessions: 1 week

Lifestyle, brand imagery: 14 days, depending on project scope

Wedding photography, videography: 8 weeks
